Mars. 2074. Newly promoted chief of the Galileo police division, Dionna Carrera, is tasked with investigating a tragic accident. An explosion on a landing platform has left twelve settlers dead and she, along with her lead detective, John Washington, must discover the cause.
As evidence is gathered, however, Carrera begins to suspect the key to the mystery lies with her wife - the chief scientific adviser - who is currently leading an expedition to the Northern Pole as a prelude to terraforming the Martian surface.
With the settlement in lockdown and essential supplies stuck in orbit, Carrera and Washington must race to find answers before someone they love becomes the next unsuspecting tragedy.
