Daniel Walker is reluctantly famous. Though T-Carriers are shunned and despised by Normals, Cadmon is gifted.  When his genius comes to the attention of a scientist at the Tokyo Institute of Nanotechnology, he enters the world of Normals and becomes a renowned medical researcher and nanotechnologist. Still ill and socially ostracized, he is determined to find a cure for the his affliction despite a ban on nanogenetic research. But as he finds himself blocked at every turn, he grows increasingly bitter and ruthless.

Determined to find a cure for the plague he carries before it takes his life, Cadmon defies those who would restrict his research and turns increasingly ruthless.

To reach a new world, Daniel is prepared to face the aliens again but never anticipates that the work of this unscrupulous nano-technologist will not only pose a far greater threat to his mission and those he loves, it will also challenge his belief in what it means to be human.
